Hi All – this is a great initiate to get back in touch with all the Alumni of the Gilroy Santa Maria College.
I am currently the Vice Consul at the Australian Embassy in Rome. My path after the GSMC has taken me from studying at JCU (1990-92), public accountant in good ol’ Ingham (1993-1998), Finance Manager at the JCU Student Association (1998-2002) and then to the Department of Foreign Affairs where I am today. I married in 1998 (Sarah).
I hope to here from more of you as this site keeps going..
Ciao
John

After graduating from Gilroy in 2000, I went to uni in Townsville and studied electrical engineering for four years, while staying at St Pauls College on campus. I graduated from Uni in 2004 and got a job at the mines in Mount Isa and am currently in my second year here.

Hi Friends and most probably family as thing grows,
I am the eldest of four in my family and my Sisters and Brother all attended GSMC. In order of age it was myself, Kiera, Shalise and Regan. After graduating in 1998 with a great group of people I was offered a sporting scholarship at Abergowrie college and is where I completed my final year of senior (as I did a 3 year senior). That year I played in the Queensland school boys rugby league team and played with many great players who have subsequently gone on to achieve some great things in the sport. Some of the names in the side included: Matthew Bowen, Justin Hodges, Brent Tate, Shane Tronc, Dallas Johnson, Aaron Payne, Corey Parker and Michael Luck (I am sure I have left out some other first grade names). I quit Rugby League after spending 12 months playing for the Redcliffe Dolphins in Brisbane in 2000. It was when I moved to Brisbane at the beginning of 2000 that I met my wife, who I married in December 2003. Between 2000 and 2004 I worked casually while I completing my business degree at QUT. Upon completing my degree I spent about 6 months trying to find work that I enjoy doing. I currently work for the Queensland State Government in a department with a long name. I work in Policy and don’t ask me to explain what I do, but I do enjoy it muchly. I lead a very fortuitous life and in part, that is due to the great friends and teaching I received at GSMC and for that I will be forever thankful.
